BSCC U13 v Hoddesdon

Stortford won the toss, batted first and Archie set the tone by hitting 8 runs from the first over only to be bowled in the next. Matthew joined Edward and they steadily accumulated the runs assisted by some wayward bowling and poor wicket keeping adding lots of byes and wides. Edward retired on 30 not out and Sam continued the stroke play with 3 boundaries in his 18 not out. Matthew also got to 30 to retire and Griff made 3 not out at the end. Our score of 139-1 looked imposing.
Finley started with a maiden and Adam clean bowled the opener to give us a good start. As with our innings their next 2 batsmen retired on 30 each but were not able to get close to the required run rate. Late wickets for George, Edward and 2 for Matthew off the last 2 balls ensured Hoddesdon were 31 runs short. Most people bowled well especially George and Alex, making his debut, but our fielding was a little slack at times giving away quite a few runs.
Three wins out of three so very positive start.
