BSCC won the toss and chose to bat against a very depleted Hoddesdon team thanks to the holidays.
With a watchful eye on the weather and the threat of the match being abandoned if local forecasts were correct we batted superbly!
First to retire was Ed Catton 26 Not Out closely followed by
Aidan Murphy Retired Not Out on 28 and Billy Bays Retired Not Out on 26.
Matt Foster went on to get 21 Not Out
Tommy Williams 17 Not Out
Benjamin Furrer caught for 7
Lots of extras also bumped up our tally and we ended up with a massive 166/1
By now the weather was beginning to look like it would spoil the proceedings if we didn't get a move on.
However, We battled on through the light rain and our excellent bowling finally sealed Hoddesdons fate and we got them all out for a measly 32 runs.
Wickets
Matt Foster 2 wickets
Aidan Murphy 2 wickets
Ed Catton 2 wickets
Thomas Fallan 1 wicket
Riley Butler 1 wicket 1 maiden
Alex James 1 wicket
Joe Sharp 1 wicket & a superb catch
The plan had been for all the boys to bowl 2 overs each but unfortunately it was all over in 13.3 overs so this was not the case. Apologies to the boys who didn't get to bat or bowl. I know how disappointing it can be. Hopefully this can be rectified in future matches.
So!
2 wins and a match conceded by Knebworth gives us the maximum 60 points at the top of the group with 2 matches left to play.
It's already looking like we could qualify for the finals!
Thanks again to the U12s Benjy, Aidan & Alex who stepped in to help out and to Bugsy for umpiring. Also to Caroline Furrer for helping out Hoddesdon with their scoring.
Next match on Sunday away to Welwyn GC CC.
