A loss against a strong Hertford side on Wednesday (which was disappointing), did provide areas for improvement particularly in the fielding, and middle / lower order batting.
Stortford won the toss and elected to field, and we got off to a reasonable start with Olly and Dan bowling well. All the bowlers bowled better than the previous game and the opposition total would have been under 100 had we fielded better. Having said that Hertford had a couple of good players who came in later in the middle order and scored quick runs which took the game away from us a little. Another good performance with bat and ball by Mason Allington who continues to impress as a good all round player. Humza bowled with far more confidence, and contributions from William PF at the death were also good.
In response we started well however no one was able to support Mason (retired not out) or Dan as we were not able to keep up with the run rate. It is essential we rotate the strike and keep the board ticking which we were unable to do.
We need to do some further training as at present many of the games are falling on a training night which does not allow time to correct any issues. Therefore I will look into the possibility of doing an additional training session with the boys - I will communicate that soon.
