With lots of regular players not available, a young Stortford side went to Dagenham to face a Goresbrook team that also comprised U12s and 11s.
Skipper Coby Miles won the toss and elected to field, and took the new ball himself along with Will Price. It wasn't long before he had made the breakthrough and Coby went on to pick up two wickets. Amber Mays came on as first change and bowled an excellent spell, also picking up a wicket.
Goresbrook struggled to 109-4; a total that looked below par. However, the early wicket of Joel Ellis for 0 put pressure on Stortford and when Jacob Capener and Charlie Finch also went cheaply the hosts were in the game. However, Will Bowman's solid 18 provided vital runs at the top of the order, and any nerves were steadied when Joe Burslem and Will Price batted with assurance to guide the team to victory. Joe ended with 34 not out from 43 balls while Will raced to 38 from only 30 deliveries.
After Friday's win against Letchworth, this second win in two days was very welcome and ensures we retain a chance of qualifying from our group. Many thanks to Sarah Miles for managing the team and to Liam and Amber Mays and Matt Parker for helping out.
