A routine win today against another inexperienced Hatfield Hyde team.
BSCC batted first and dominated throughout their innings, not afraid to lose wickets in pursuit of runs which was good to see. Everyone played their part in accumulating an impressive 353-9, but notable performances from Ben who it’s great to see back from injury hitting a powerful 25, despite stepping on his wicket(!) and Oliver who hit the easiest looking 35 you’ll see. Some good innings’ as well from Harrison (22no), and Will F (35 - 3 outs) who it was great to see in the middle.
Stortford came into their own in the field with a hugely impressive fielding display. The bowling was accurate and steady throughout, but the boys were ruthless with their catching taking every single chance that came their way. Some impressive catches from Will, Harrison, Oliver and a superb catch at mid off from Joe G. Fielding is such an important part of the game and today we really looked like a cricket team in the field. Some great work from behind the stumps from Alex when taking over from Joe G in the latter stages as well.
Notable bowling figures of 3-10 from Harrison, 3-14 from Oliver, 2-13 from Tom and 2-9 from Luca.
Last but not least, special mention to Joe G for his three stumpings. An excellent display behind the stumps Joe, it was great to see such a confident display.
Final word for the attitude of the boys today. Against an inexperienced team with a number of 11 year olds, they showed a wonderful ‘spirit of cricket’ attitude. Competitive without crossing the line, and generous in their respect and praise of the opposition. Very well done boys!
