U14 skipper Charlie Laking won the toss and put St Margs in. They started very well, with their opener scoring quickly reaching 40* retired in 9 overs. After he retired, Thomas Greenhill cleaned up the rest of the St Margs top order taking 3 wickets for 4 runs in 3 overs! Golden arm Jamie Ward came on and took another wicket before Harry Pigram took the final two wickets, one cleaned bowled and also a smart run out. They finished 99-6 off their 20 overs.
In response, Harry Pigram hit two lovely shots before absolutely creaming the ball at mid on who took a fantastic catch. Henry Hawkins also looked in very good form until he was bowled by a ball that didn’t bounce at all. Ben Foster was also bowled the next over by a ball that didn’t bounce which put us in trouble at 34/3. Thankfully Charlie Laking dug in again for a solid 19, whilst Zac Saunders scored an excellent quick fire 20 which helped put us right on top. We lost a few late wickets as we stumbled over the line, but overall it was a good effort against a decent bowling attack.
It means the A team have won every game so far this season (bar one abandoned game), heading into the final HJL group game next Thursday. If we win that game, we should get a home Quarter Final!
