BSCC u14

A great game for the u14s last night against a very high quality team from Saffron Walden. We elected to bowl and throughout the innings we bowled high quality balls. Every bowler should be pleased with what they delivered. We gave very few extras as well. Our fielding was a bit off colour though and we dropped a lot of catches. Pick of the bowlers were Freddie Hickey with his usual pace and length making it difficult for the openers, and Dylan for his two fine wickets late in the innings.

Chasing 149 to win we were always behind the run rate and were more hesitant in our strokes than the opposition. Will and Brendan got us off to a reasonable start, and Luke , Jake and Josh batted with confidence all retiring before coming back in later in the innings. Freddie made a quick fire 18 listening to the instruction to throw his bat, and the tail end batsmen including Harry, Dylan and JP ran hard to accumulate a lot of late runs. Jake was top score on 22 not out and Freddie made 18 , Luke 15 and Josh 10. We fell a few runs short at the end but it was a great team effort against impressive opposition.
