And it all started so well.
Hertford elected to bat and the opening overs saw them reduced to 15/2, losing both openers thanks to Bertie's smart C&B and Max (1/20) rattling the stumps of the No.2 batsman.
But we began to leak runs as a result of bowling a poor line and length. Granted, it was against their stronger batsmen who found the boundary regularly.
Jonny U retired on 42 (4 sixes, 3 fours) and despite being able to claw back the run rate with wickets by Themiya (1/9) and Griff (2/20) further bowling changes and a growing extras total (46 in all!!!!), Hertford set a formidable 164 for 5
13 wides and 3 no balls gave the opposition an extra 2.4 overs.
So the batting challenge was to score 165 off 120 balls. That's 1.35 runs per ball.
Josh (13) & Murray(15) grew into their innings, finding the boundary when they could. But accurate bowling and energetic fielding kept our run chase at bay.
We lost wickets regularly - 5 bowled and 3 wickets to run outs and despite some late purposeful batting from Edward (13*) we limped to 100 all out.
On the plus side - all were involved in the game.
So onto Match Day 5 vs St Margaretsbury at Home on Monday 21st May. It's a must win game if we want to progress to the QF's
See you there
