A direct hit run out in the first over of the match set the tone for a confident and convincing win by the boys on their trip to St Magaretsbury. Toby provided that classy piece of fielding in the first of Kieron's 3 accurate overs (3-0-4-1). On a slow track, bowling a full length and a tight line was exactly what was asked for and what was delivered. Supported by Max (3-0-12-0) the St Margaretsbury top order were never comfortable. And with good support from the fielders our bowlers continued to restrict the home team's batsmen.
With good field placements and keeping their stronger batsmen away from the strike, Stortford were able to restrict the home side to 4 and over for much of their innings.
Well done to all the bowlers - we used 9 in all. Browse the scorecard for their figures with Themiya starring on the night with 3 for 9.
A 'stumping' (too many confusing lines for one batsman) for Murray and another run out didn't help the home team's cause. St Margaretbury finished on 88 for 9.
The run chase from our boys was first rate. Murray (31) and Toby (28) did not hang about. They never let the bowlers dominate, they put away the bad ball and picked up singles at will. A sweetly timed pulled 6 from Murray was shot of the day.
Benji (8*) and Josh (5*) saw the side home.
An improved performance from match 1 in all aspects of the game. The bowlers set up the win and the batsmen confidently took us to victory.
Well done to Benji for running the game and Murray behind the sticks.
The game was played in a good spirit and it was good to hear the positive encouragement between all our players.
