After watching the weather all day I would have put money on this game being called off. But no, it went ahead and although light was poor from start to finish we again pulled off a great win.
At the start of the day I only had a team of 10 men but with our U11 match being called off I was able to get young U10/U11 Bertie Warnes to join us along with his U12 brother Toby.
This was the definition of team effort to pull off a win against a solid St Margs team.
Our team only had 3 U14s!
5 U13s, 2 U12s and 1 U10/11.
We won the toss and elected wisely to bat first with the light already poor and only going to get worse. We needed a pink ball!
Matt Foster & Jared Bassingthwaighte opened the batting. Sadly Matt was Bowled early doors for 1. Jared went on to score 41 off 38 balls which included 6 Fours! Retiring Not Out.
Batting lineup
Matt Foster 1 Bowled
Jared Bassingthwaighte 41 Retired
Billy Bays 16 LBW
Murray Davidson 32 Not Out
Alex James 6 Caught
Maksim 0 Caught
Edward Swift 10 Bowled
Sam Martin 5 Not Out
BSCC 125/5
2nd Innings
Thanks to Captain Matt Foster everyone got to take part in the match either by Batting or Bowling and he used 9 bowlers in total.
Wickets:
Matt Foster 2 WICKETS (12 Runs) (4 overs)
Murray Davidson 1 WICKET (13 Runs) (2 overs)
Kieran Surujbally 1 WICKET (14 Runs) (2 overs)
Great catches from Murray Davidson & Jared Bassingthwaighte especially in such poor light.
It was a really good match played n the true spirit of the game and ended up being very close at the end.
St Margaretsbury 120/4
Thanks go to Craig Bassingthwaighte for umpiring
Bernie Surujbally for updating score board and myself for scoring for both teams whilst sitting under a umbrella!!
