Great win for U14s away at Hoddesdon

What a great way to end the season beating HODDESDON U14s by 25 runs.

Once again we were only represented by 3 U14s the rest of the team made up of U13s & U12s.

We won the toss and elected to bat first. The start was delayed due to nothing being prepared! No score board, no scorers table, oh and no stumps!!!!

Once underway, Matt Foster & Jared Bassingthwaighte opened the batting. Matt getting 25 before being caught and Jared Bowled for 8
This weeks star batsman was Billy Bays coming in at number 3 and getting 44 runs off 28 balls which included 7 Fours (retired Not Out).
Aidan Murphy came in at 4 and produced 26 Not Out
Kieran Surujbally 0 (Caught)
Ryan Cox 7 Not Out

We definitely cashed in on their poor bowling and fielding.

HODDESDON Innings
We had set HODDESDON our biggest score of the season and they did try hard to challenge it with a final score of 125/5.

Captain Matt Foster opened the bowling and managed 2 overs before retiring injured and handing the captaincy over to Jared. Get well soon Matt!

Jared followed in Matts footsteps and ensured that everyone got to bowl. We ended up using 10 bowlers which I think is incredible.

I have to point out both catches were superb! Also commiserations to Maksim who also made a great catch before finding out it was off a wide ball ?
Our bowling was much tighter than Hoddys with us only giving away 13 extras.

HODDESDON CC 125/5

Sadly this was our final U14 league match and although we have struggled weekly to get a team together only having 3 or 4 regular U14s available I cannot thank enough the U13s, U12s & U11s who have stepped up and helped us achieve second place in the group. We won 6 out of 8 matches only losing to Hertford Home & Away.

We now wait to find out if we have qualified for a QF place and I will let you know as soon as I hear.
