A great victory for the u15 team in the Herts League Semi Finals last night. We hosted a very decent Redbourn side who won the toss and sensibly chose to bat first, in a match which was always going to be tight to beat the fading light.
Will H and Damien opened the bowling with the Redbourn openers starting swiftly with 22 on the board in the first 3 overs. Then followed two consecutive wicket maidens, one for Damien and one for Jake to bring the run rate down and see the back of two very good quality openers. Batsmen 3,4 and 5 for Redbourn then pushed on well all retiring having made a quick 25 each.
Redbourn had reached 92 off 15 overs and looked set for racking up a decent score.
There was some really tight bowling late on though, particularly from James who took 2 classy wickets for 16 runs, and Josh who kept it very tight giving away 6 runs and taking 1 wicket. The Redbourn innings finished at 108 for 4 which is a total we would always be confident of reaching.

Damien and Tegid opened the batting and there were fireworks from the word go. Damien brutally hitting 18 runs in the third over alone. His 22 off 10 balls before falling LBW set us up really well early on. Matthew got a really nasty Yorker to deal with and at 34 for 2 after 5 overs it felt a little bit nervy.
Tegid was joined by Jake and they steadied the ship again, both batting sensibly but quickly retiring on 28 and 27 respectively.

Alex joined the party with his usual speedy batting and a quick 17 before being caught to a top edge, brought the score very quickly to an incredible 95 off 11 overs. The last couple of overs saw Will H and James steer us safely home, the winning runs coming off a very classy shot from Will in the first ball of the 14th over.

A really class all round performance with great bowling, intensity in the field and some sensible but aggressive batting. A big thanks to our regular super sub - Daniel Pickup who did himself proud with the unenviable task of covering fine leg for most of the game. On to the league finals on Sunday v West Herts
