St Albans started steadily as BSCC mixed their bowlers trying to counter some of the stronger St Albans batters with our best bowlers, but as St Albans fielded a side full of U15 and U13 county players, eventually St Albans were able to get hold of short pitched balls and begun to hit or clear the boundary. BSCC bowled and fielded with great spirit and skill but struggled to cope with the more experienced opposition. Millie bowled well to pull them back with 2 wickets, Frances and Florence one each. They finished with 319-4.
In reply, the girls tried hard to chase the big total, Elizabeth and Poppy getting us off to a good start with a 24 run partnership, but runs dried up and wickets begun to fall leaving us well behind the rate. Emelia and Frances managed another 24 run partnership to finish but it was too little to late. Emelia top scoring on 22 (run out once) and Elizabeth 17 not out.
Its very disappointing to loose but they were a better side and the girls should grow from the experience as we had 5 players from our U12 squad in the group. We'll come back fighting again next year.
Player of the Match Emelia Godber (22 and 2 overs for 6 runs)
