Stortford girls batted first and scored slowly, with few runs from the bat as St Albans bowlers generally bowled good lines. those that didn't were the main source of runs through wides. Top scorer being Frances with 7 not out. Losing 8 wickets didn't help the cause either.
So this called for a big performance with the ball and in the field. The girls performed really well in the field, chasing down the ball with energy when fielding and bowling straighter than St Albans, conceding less wides and taking 10 wickets mostly bowled or LBW. Suzannah, Frances and Elizabeth all taking 2-9 and an excellent catch from Elizabeth. The game went right down to the wire with late wickets but St Albans were just too strong and deserved the win by putting away the bad balls that Stortford didn't. Of note was the single bye conceded by our new Wicket Keeper; Amandi showing her typical bravery and team spirit.
Player of the Match was Elizabeth Clune for bowling and good tactical awareness as captain.
