We only had 7 players at the start so Hertford allowed us to bat first - massive thanks to Thomas for getting there at short notice just in time to bat. Oliver started cautiously and Cassidy received a painful blow to the stomach which gave him a reason to attack the bowling hitting 3 4s and Oliver helped himself to another taking us to 234 after the 1st pair. Ruben and Luca continued the onslaught hitting 6 more boundaries between them as we pushed on to 271. No change when Freddie and William came in and another 4 boundaries meant we passed 300 suffering our 1st wicket with a run out. Harrison and Thomas kept up the pace but our final score of 320-3 was checked by 2 wickets in the final over. The Hertford bowling was very wayward contributing 48 in wides and No balls. The Stortford bowling was much more consistent and accurate with everyone looking like taking wickets. In the end 1 for Oliver and William, 2 for Harrison and a great run out by Thomas saw us to a comfortable win as they were never close to the target. Luca captained the side well and Freddie kept wicket nicely, nearly taking a brilliant catch behind. We only gave them 26 in wides and no balls but this is something we can still improve on during the season. Well done to all.
