The U12 Junior season finished today with an inter squad friendly, that went all the way to the final ball.
One team captained by Charlie Laking batted first and scored 152 with a top score of 16 from Bertie Warnes. Every batsmen got starts, with most of them falling between 9 and 13. The wickets went to Arthur Seakhoa’King (3), Ben Foster (2), Paddy Ainsworth-Ledwidge and Jamie Paramo.
The other team, captained by Ben Foster, fell just short, ending up on 148 from their 25 overs. The two standout innings being Paddy A-L’s 30* retired and Omar Sain’s 24*. Harry Pigram took 3 wickets, Luca Barnes and Herbie MacLeod took a wicket each.
The match was an ideal finish as every player got a good bat and bowl, with a close finish. The only issue is it took so bloody long! It took OVER 4 hours to complete the 25 over match, as it’s fair to say, the concentration levels weren’t particularly high, but the important part was they all enjoyed it!
The U12s finish the season with 19 wins, 1 tie and 6 losses. We didn’t quite reach Finals Day as we had hoped/aimed, but I’m very happy with all the boys efforts throughout the season. The progress made by both A and B teams this year has been huge! The exciting news for next season is the B team will also be entering the Herts B Leagues, meaning they’ll get their chance to become county champions too.
