It was a good start to the U12 B season, with a 13 run victory over Braughing at BSCC.
The teams were evenly matched with Braughing loaning U12 A regulars Matt Reader and Jake Curtis for a game. Both Matt and Jake bowled fantastically against us, with a combined 5 overs for just 14 runs, including 3 maidens.
After captain TJ Tyndall won the toss and chose to bat, the innings started poorly losing Herbie MacLeod, TJ Tyndall and Zac Ziepe inside 3 overs. However the ship was steadied by Charlie Fair (20* retired) and Arthur Seakhoa'King (17*) who both batted sensibly under the circumstances. The highlight of the innings was Oscar Gouldson's 22* off 14 balls to take us to a good score of 115 in 20 overs.
In response, Braughing started well with their opener playing some excellent shots, eventually retiring on 20*, however we did well to build pressure a the other end. Every player got the chance to bowl, and they all did a good job. The standouts were Joel Bagnall, Fraser Swanson and Oscar Gouldson who all took a wicket each and bowled economically. Charlie Fair finished off the match taking 2 wickets in the final over, with BSCC winning by 13 runs.
One huge area for improvement is calling/running between the wickets, we left a minimum of 15 runs in the field through a lack of communication. However, overall it was a very good win in a competitive match.
We hope to continue the winning start on Monday at TBSHS!
