We took 7 players to Welwyn on Monday all of whom contributed to the best team display of the season.
Batting first with the instruction of batting the full 20 overs - the innings was dominated by Aidan (60 no - retired and allowed to return) and Ed (41 retired). Both were careful in defence and destructive when able to attack. With so few wickets to play with - all the other players batted well and importantly formed partnerships with Aidan and Ed. This excellent management of the game enabled us to post a daunting 170 for 4.
Welwyn were generous in allowing us 2 sub fielders (as we had done so in our earlier meeting at Cricketfield Lane when they travelled with 7).
The contest was over within the first 8 overs as Max bowled full, fast and accurately to blow away their top order - returning figures of 5 for 15 off 4 overs - all wickets were bowled.
Supported by Arthur, Damian (2 for 29), Themiya and Ed (2 for 21) the bowling was every bit as good as our earlier batting.
It was all over after 15 overs - with Welwyn reaching 106.
We have not been able to re-arrange the home Hertford game that was rained off as there has been no evening when our ground has been free. Similarly - the only offer of re-arranging the Hoddesdon cancellation was Fri 5th July (tomorrow) when we only had poor (5) availability.
Let's look forward to the Summer League - fixtures to follow
