The Club has adopted a new approach to junior coaching for 2019, with a different philosophy and structure.

ECB Level 3 and Hertfordshire County Pathway coach, Dom Chatfield, has been appointed “Head Coach” to lead on all Club coaching matters supported by our team of ECB qualified coaches.

Dom commented “I am delighted to have been offered this position by the club. My approach to coaching has always been to focus on the development of young players which in the end will lead to success on the field which is what we all want.”

A new addition to the coaching team is Sam Davis who joins us from Hoddesdon CC; Sam will act as one of our senior coaches supporting “bowling” and also as Ladies/Girls coach. He will play for our 1st XI from this season onwards.

Eddie Ballard assumes the position of senior “batting” coach working alongside Dom and Sam and the remaining coaching staff; Graeme Sumner; Steve Burrow, Luke Humphrey; Matt Pike; Joe Burslem; Alex Palmer; Sam Howlett; Joe Clune, Fred Hussain and Morgan Sewell.

The new coaching philosophy focuses on enjoyment and fun, particularly at the younger age groups, with an extended age down to 5 years of age driven by the introduction of the nationally acclaimed “All Stars” cricket aimed at an introduction to cricket for 5 to 8 year olds.

All Stars it designed to promote fun filled activity, coach elementary skills and hopefully provide experiences that will see children see cricket as their first sport and hopefully stay connected to the game for a lifetime.

Older age groups will focus on player development, playing and understanding the game in
readiness for their introduction into senior cricket.

A “Gifted & Talented” programme will be introduced to support 15 to 17 year old player’s with their development which will then help their transition into senior cricket.

This new coaching approach will meet a number of the new Club objectives by providing high quality coaching, a more focused development pathway for youth players and should provide a steady stream of local, home grown players to represent the club in future years.
